Post-editing is a type of translation whose importance has steadily grown in recent years with the improvement of machine translation systems. In a post-editing process, the translators are responsible for checking a translation produced by a machine. Just like with a revision task, the translators correct any spotted mistake in the text produced, whether it be in terms of grammar, typography, style, terminology, etc. As always, the primary goal is to make sure that the translation produced is in line with the intent of the original author.
Transcreation is an indispensable translation process when the linguistic constraints of the target language make it impossible to translate a text in the usual way without betraying the intended effect.
